THE STORY

The Laura Bush Library in Austin, TX needed to close its doors to replace the HVAC system, address facilities maintenance and updates, and make improvements to its outdoor spaces. PROJECT PLANNING AND MANAGEMENT

During the entirety of the Project Planning and Management phases, Ace Relocation worked directly with the Associate Director, the Facilities Manager, and the Programs Manager. Because of the intricacies of the move, a detailed schedule—detailing the activities, responsibilities, and timeline—was developed for the removal, transportation, storage, and reinstallation phases. Multiple site visits were conducted to obtain a comprehensive understanding of all project elements and to identify situations that could have bearing on the execution of the work. Weekly project meetings were conducted to ensure all parties were aligned on upcoming goals and activities.

TRANSPORTATION SERVICES

Ace Relocation transported 38,000 items of furniture, books, CDs, and DVDs 41 miles between the Laura Bush Library in Austin, TX and the Ace Relocation office and warehouse in San Marcos, TX. All items were properly protected, secured, and stabilized during transport to prevent shifting and damage.

PROCUREMENT OF SUPPLIES

After thorough assessment of all items needing to be moved and stored, Ace Relocation identified and procured the appropriate supplies/consumables required, including specialized equipment for properly moving and storing all classified materials and documents in the collection.

PACKING/UNPACKING SERVICES

Because all library racking remained in the space for construction, Ace Relocation packed and inventoried all 38,000 volumes. The project also required Ace to disassemble and pack all furniture. Upon completion of the construction at the library, Ace redelivered, unpacked, and placed all volumes, and reassembled and placed all furniture.

REMOVAL AND DISPOSAL SERVICES

Ace Relocation provided all removal and disposal services of supplies and consumables so that this was taken care of for the project.

Ace Relocation is proud to receive the “2023 MSC Agent of the Year Service Excellence Award” for demonstrating exceptional performance and service to our customers, employees, community, and the moving and storage industry.
